leaving bassano de grappa

January 30, 2009

have you ever had grappa before? its so fucking strong. jesse and al from mstrkrft bought 5 bottles and brought it back to toronto. i cant even drink a shot but anyways its from bassano and its the shit if you wanna get fucked on some og traditional liquor. grappa is actually from the skin of grapes… just the skin. since its the skin it absorbs more alcohol content when its doing its filtering or whatever it does..

ive been here for four days, waking up at 9 am going into the studio with bob rifo (bloody beetroots) and congorock and staying til 8pm chunking out some hardcore riffage and screams that i havent done since this machine kills days - to check that out go to the seriously dated myspace page where there are a few tracks from our ebullition LP we put out almost a decade ago - myspace.com/tmk

so we did 5 songs. in four days we wrote 4 songs and a cover.. wrote and recorded… we are going to release a single soon and then the EP will come out over the summer. we actually played the single “SPERM DONOR” last night twice at the gig in bassano.. cant wait for this to see the light of day…

on ward to germany!

xoxo

hey guys, be sure to vote for steve’s playlist!

tour blog day 4 - made it to bassano de grappa

January 25, 2009

our last gig from our first week out. we did milan then rome and napoli. napoli is in southern italy and the dance scene down here is still really new to the “banger” culture… electro madness. the kids came out though and it was surprising to a few of the people in our crew that it was that crazy. all i heard about napoli from some of the friends around us was to watch our stuff from thieves and “soprano’s” esque stories from the gangs running the order in the city. i sprayed champagne on the ragers. went home slept. cobrasnake went to paris to spend his off days there for fashion week. fashion week for couture dresses. sweet. me and bob spent the rest of the day in napoli eating pasta and seafood. then flew to venice and met up with congorock and tommy tea for a cruisey boat ride through venice with our chapperone, bob’s friend that took us to a cozy lil restaurant. did you know venice was created to stay away from the barbarians that were terrorizing people thousands of years ago. a community of people set up shop, drove sticks in the ground, so to speak, and built a city on water to keep away from a group of people who were pillaging and invading the mainland. so we ate some more good food. then got lost on a bus that took us too far into the city almost hitch hiked back and finally a few hours later we made it to bassano. tomorrow is day one in the studio for rifoki. which is me and bob’s new project live band we will be experimenting with. congorock on drums. finally getting some sleep and pics up heres one for now

a day late… DIM MAK TOUR BLOG - Day 1

January 24, 2009

HELLOOOO…. DAY ONE! MILAN!

In Italy they say: all the streets take you to Rome, and that’s where we are heading, sitting with Stefano Aoki and Cobretti. Red Arrow from Milan is takin’ us there, after having assaulted the last club, with Stefano flyin’ around monkey style and the kids tagging the whole venue like a train.Tremendously great for us, a bit less for the promoters, still, big fun for whom was there.it’s just the first morning after.

Yeyo! Bobby & Tommy.

day one in italy was really funny.. started with the video shoot for blood beetroots new song WARP. wait till you see the footage amazing. yard sale at 55dsl was interesting lots and lots of people…we will have shirts on sale at the shows so make sure to bring euros. the milan party was nice sold out show. wasted, sweaty, gross. and dude from crookers was there. party ended at 4am people wouldnt leave and demanded more. steve was being attacked by large groups of girls. check out the photos on thecobrasnake..

love

mark the cobrasnake

on the train heading to ROMe. milan was the best gig ive had so far. third time’s a charm and with italian’s craziest duo and the cobra. we have 25 more days on the road with the dim mak crew. 12 of them shows and the rest studio time in bassano de grappa and in amsterdam with laid back luke. we did the video shoot for bloody beetroots new single warp where i do the vocals and used some hi tech camera gear. the single will be dropping winter music conference march 09. if you want to hear the track type in bloody beetroots aoki on youtube, i think there’s a link somewhere on there. see u in the pit…. xoxo

my last free day in la before i leave for europe…

January 20, 2009

i still can’t believe indie 103.1 is gone. i had no idea and i’m most likely the last indie kid from la that knew about this… just heard tonight. finally got some sleep after another few days of djing. my flight schedule… something i wish i could change sometimes, and i’ve done it like this so many times and it makes traveling unbearable. going 4 or 5 days without sleeping in a bed is torture. actually i heard that one torture method, and was considered one of the worst methods from this gang was never letting your captive sleep… keeping your victim up. anyway, the last 3 days i’ve been flying, all my flights would be departing at either 7 or 8 am. so a day schedule is something like this…. you start out without sleeping cuz you dont want to sleep through your flight so you already are tired. get to the next destination (sleep on the plane), i rarely sleep when i check in, get some food, maybe take a disco nap, play the gig, its already 2 or 3 am and you have to be up by 5am so you stay up… times 3 days. it can get pretty difficult. so to make a long random shit blog shorter i finally slept today.

went into the dim mak office, sat with my second in command michael dutcher, went over the next four weeks of critical issues coming for dim mak

— the willowz in the studio for the second album on our label, their 4rth

— from monument to masses “beyond god and elvis” ep with remixes by felix cartal, mixhell and designer drugs set to release next tuesday

— s.p.a. “pets dance” vinyl coming out feb 3rd remixes by les petits pilous, bloody beetroots and cecile, and myself

— we are doing a full on physical makeover at the dim mak studios

— shinichi osawa “star guitar” ep with a brand new remix by auto erotique, armand van helden, patrick alavi, and super computer

some big heat coming out in the next four weeks. left the office feeling confident the team are getting behind all this upcoming work.  later i headed to cobrasnake’s lair to pick up some clothes for the bpm cover shoot that was scheduled for 4. he bounced without telling me. then went to jeremy scott’s house where i borrowed the most disco jacket ever made (huge sequins) (it makes you look on camera like the scene in pulp fiction when they open up the  briefcase and they found GOD in there, but coming out your chest) and my favorite pair of sweat pants i’ve ever tried on. go jeremy! met up with am, pase rock, peanut butter wolf, fashen, marshall barnes, spider. took some shots with rony photo booth at lax. shoot goes well. we head back to the office, drop off jacob cuz he has to pull all the dim mak merch for the tour. we made some serious tour tees that turbok designed,.. its now 6 15 pm. i call maya, she’s now 9 months preggie and almost ready to pop. we organize dinner at pace, the nicest little restaurant by my house in laurel canyon. invite jeremy, the cobra and stryder, pase, andre joins, and maya with some homies and ben her fiance. we do the due there then head to my house for a foto shoot with cobrasnake. we first do me and cobra’s photo shoot wearing coochi and holding hands. best image ever. at least for me. so we had to do it. then cobra shot the almost “new” parents with maya’s stomach bigger than two watermelons in my guest bedroom. first time i had that many people in my new place. and my first day/night i felt i had a full on day off. hangin with friends, there’s nothing better.

and now i know what to do with the walls in my house. thanks maya. but that’s a secret. its almost 6 am. and im going back to sleep. this is the first blog ive done recapping a day in the life. i’m not sure if ill keep up with it but fuck man im happy with the new dim mak site.  GO PHIL!  he fucking put it together like no other. thank you bro.

miami tonight then meet up with my italian brothers tommy and bobby bloody beetroots, and mark cobrasnake to start our european adventure.
